In 1980, American comedian Brian Regan dropped out of his last semester of school to pursue a career in stand-up comedy, and spent the next six years working the comedy circuit of his native Miami, before moving to New York City to take his dream further. Regan won $10,000 in the "Funniest Person in New York" contest held by the radio station K-ROCK in 1988, and spent the early-'90s becoming a fixture on the New York comedy scene. In 1995, he won the American Comedy Award for Best Club Comic, and won it again the following year. His first comedy CD, Brian Regan Live, was released in 1997, and he taped his debut comedy special in 2000. Over the years, Regan has recorded several specials for Comedy Central, and in 2017, he signed a deal with Netflix and Jerry Seinfeld to release two stand-up specials.
